Health Care

Honduras Outreach Medical Brigada Relief Effort, HOMBRE, is a 501 ©3 status, nonprofit organization. Since its inception in 2000, a group of first-year medical students from the Medical College of Virginia Campus at Virginia Commonwealth University have traveled each year to Honduras to provide medical relief and healthcare education to underserved, rural populations.

Education

HOMBRE is committed to not only providing the best medical care for the people of Honduras but to also provide education in global health medicine to the future doctors of the United States. We provide one on one training of medical students and medical residents with faculty experienced in global health.

Children

HOMBRE is committed to promoting the care and education of children. Since our inception, we have worked at the orphanage NPH Honduras, where we help the staff care for over 600 children. In addition, through our public health projects as well as our on going relationship with several communities, we strive to empower families to better care for themselves and their children.
